This sweet couple is anxiously awaiting the arrival of their first baby and even better they do not know yet if they are having a boy or girl! Lucky for me, they are a part of my Baby Plan and I will get to be seeing their little one three more times over coming year! I am so excited to see them snuggle with their newborn soon!

When you have made it through your son or daughter's first year, there is reason to celebrate! This family of three did just that and drove all the way from Jackson, TN to meet with me! They both worked and got married at the Botanical Gardens of Memphis and wanted to head back there to document their little guy's first year milestone. It was a bit chilly but the light was stunning and of course the location gave us a ton of different options. I loved seeing his personality show in different ways and I definitely documented all sides of it! Welcome to toddlerhood!

If you have followed along with me and my business (formally Pea Pie Photography), you have probably noticed that my newborn sessions have evolved over the past 5 years. I started off posing newborns with blankets and wraps and hats and bows but that really isn't what made my heart sing. I have come to find, that for me and my art, I am most in love with the connection, the newness and the simple moments from newborn sessions. So during my lifestyle newborn sessions I focus more on the family and give a littler extra attention to the big brother or sister if needed, rather than getting a newborn to sleep so that he or she can be posed a certain way. I loved getting to know the A family and I am kicking myself for not sharing this post sooner because it is clients like these that make it all worth it for me!
Newborn Walt really put on a show for me!! He didn't even open his eyes once and I think his parents were in shock because the day before they said he had been a screaming maniac. So just call me the baby whisperer (but I really had nothing to do with it). This session flowed like a dream and I am so grateful to have gotten to know the G family!
When Casey called me to schedule her maternity session, she mentioned that she had a show horse called a Gypsy Manner that she wanted to include in the photos. I was a little thrilled and a little scared because I haven't ever incorporated a horse into a photo session before, but you know what, horses are such gentle creatures and it was an awesome experience! The baby bump was the star of the show, but I truly loved incorporating her passion for horses into her maternity session!
