I photographed this adorable girl's newborn session (see here), so of course I was super excited when her family came back to document her turning one! I will say, that these one year sessions are quickly becoming my favorite types of sessions! Her mom brought the balloons and cake and it just made celebrating her that much more fun!

I have been photographing this family for a few years and I was thrilled when the mom emailed me from the hospital to tell me that she had had a baby girl! You can see her maternity session here and you will be seeing more of baby Hannah Kate as the year goes on because she is a part of my Baby Plan where I will document her milestones along the way. Her two big brothers didn't phase her a bit and their at home newborn session was all about pink and the new girl in town!

I am always leery of posting fall family photos too soon before Christmas because I don't want to ruin the surprise of a family's Christmas card, but hello?!?! how did I never share these?!?! I am lucky to call them my dear friends and while these were taken two years ago I just loved their energy, smiles and love so much that I just had to share it!

These blonde brothers were so sweet to one another. They are less than two years apart and really loved on one another during their family session. And there were no shortage of poses from Henry - he has the side lean, cross the legs and killer smile down! I called it his heartbreaker pose!

If you have followed along with me and my business (formally Pea Pie Photography), you have probably noticed that my newborn sessions have evolved over the past 5 years. I started off posing newborns with blankets and wraps and hats and bows but that really isn't what made my heart sing. I have come to find, that for me and my art, I am most in love with the connection, the newness and the simple moments from newborn sessions. So during my lifestyle newborn sessions I focus more on the family and give a littler extra attention to the big brother or sister if needed, rather than getting a newborn to sleep so that he or she can be posed a certain way. I loved getting to know the A family and I am kicking myself for not sharing this post sooner because it is clients like these that make it all worth it for me!
These two sisters were some kind of sweet! The weather was just right and there were tons of giggles and smiles had by all. If you are struggling with what to wear to your next session - just take at look at how this Mamma brought it all together with a similar color palette but nothing too matchy-matchy.
Last year I photographed this family of 5 in a field full of gorgeous light, but this year they requested something a little more gritty. So we took to the streets of downtown Memphis and searched for fun alley ways and graffiti art! We had fun exploring and capturing our city as a backdrop to their session.
